Deep Down Under!!!
Hey Everyone,
Hope you are all doing well this week! I heard that you are all getting a lot of snow back home. Well, it is freezing cold here, but unfortunately, there is no snow.
So anyways, I just wanted to update you all on what's new in my life.......
Not too long ago, I stepped down into the noisy engine room and minutes later found myself laying deep beneath the floor boards. It was dark and oily and and I couldn't sit up because I was laying in such a small hole. But don't worry, I didn't accidentally get there, I signed up for it!......
Since the middle of November, the ship's community found out that we were going to have surveyors come on board the last week of January to inspect the ship for sailing. This meant, that in less than three months, we would have to finish a huge list of projects that had to be completed before we could pass our certificate for sailing. So,,,, the projects began! And, as you might have already guessed, cleaning out the oil and sludge beneath the engine floor boards was one of those projects that had to be completed!
The whole ships company was given the opportunity to go down to the engine room and help clean the areas that really needed cleaned. I can't say that I was one of those people who raised my hand the instant they asked for volunteers. I get closter phobic very easily and laying on my back underneath floor boards sounded really scary to me... But, when the last opportunity came for me to clean in the engine room, I decided to do it. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and honestly, I had sooo much fun!!! It was so cool to be able to help with the project...
So, after months of hard work, the week has finally arrived for the surveyors to come...It's this week (January 26-30)!!!! The surveyors have been on board for three days now, inspecting the ship from top to bottom. At the end of this week, the ship is going to find out if we get to sail or not!!!
Although the ship really trusts God for the outcome, everyone is really ready to sail into ministry!!! Many people (the engine guys and deck guys) have been working until 2-3 a.m. in the morning to have everything ready.
But I just want to ask you all to pray... First, pray really hard that our third generator will start running this week, because we can't sail without it running (and as of now, it still needs work to run)... Also, pray for everyone on board, because the inspectors are going to stop random people within the next two days and ask them question about safety (and I don't think they will be very impressed if we don't know the answers)!!! Next, just pray for everyone who is so so worn out from working so hard. Pray that God would give them strength to make it through the next week...
Well, Have a great week guys!!! Thank you to everyone who has prayed for me and the ship's ministry... God has really been faithful!!! I just heard a quote last week that really describes what God has been teaching me here.. It says, "Don't look at the enormity of the situation, look at the faithfulness of our God."
I'll keep you all updated on what happens after this week's survey!! Trust me, when I learn that we are going to sail, I'll make sure EVERYONE knows about it!!!!
Love you all,
Joslynn
