Seven Months - The Royal Mile
Dear Friends and family,
Today (April 8,2009) marks seven months exactly since I've been on board. Wow! You know, quite of few of you told me that this year would be one of the quickest years of my life and you are definitely right! After 5 months of reconstructing the ship in Denmark, the ship left our home there to begin our journey around the world. Right now, I am sitting in the absolutely gorgeous countryside of Scotland! When we arrived, the people here gave us the biggest welcome we've recieved so far!! We are docked right across from the town's shopping mall and on the second story of this mall, a local church held a huge, outdoor concert for us with Scottish dancing, men playing bagpipes, etc. What I loved the most though was hearing everyone burst out in singing, "How great is our God." It was such a God moment and it was also amazing too, that the mall agreed to let this church hold a concert for us right outside their doors (especially since Scotland has had many battles lately over the issue of Christianity).
On my off day this past week, I got to go sightseeing and visit the Edinburgh castle, the queen's palace, the parliament building and walk down one of the oldest streets in Scotland called, "The Royal Mile." I've never seen so many old, ancient looking buildings in my life! One of my favorite things that I've done so far is climbing what seemed like two enormous mountains (I felt so proud of myself for climbing two mountains, when, to my disappiontment, someone told me later on that they were just "hills"). When I got to the top, you could look out over the entire city of Edinburgh. It was sooo beautiful!!!
Well, I'm planning on soaking up as much sun as possible before we leave Scotland and enter the rainy weather in Ireland, England and London.... Thanks so much for all of your prayers and support so far! You are all such a blessing to me, I hope you know that!
God Bless you guys,
love,
Joslynn
